My New Grill And How I Found It

my new pellet grill

If you have read some of my other articles you might have figured out that I like to cook and not just inside but also outdoor on the grill.

I have always done a lot of cooking on the grill and also have a small smoker where I cook low and slow. Unfortunately, that smoker is falling apart and it was time to look around for a replacement.

I had my eye on a pellet grill for a while and did a lot of reading about them in the last months since I knew I soon needed a new smoker.

The reason I started to look at pellet grills was that a few friends had one and were all very happy with how they worked. I started talking to them and one who is very good at grilling and smoking advise me to have a look at these Traeger grill reviews on this particular website he liked.

Why a pellet grill

As I mentioned above I have been thinking about a pellet grill for a while now and one of the reasons was that they are so easy to use. You just fill them with pellets, set the temperature, and wait for your meat, or any other food to be cooked.

It is of course not only pros and no cons when it comes to pellet grills. Sometimes the temperature swings are very bad. However, I found that you can upgrade to newer model controllers if you don’t have the latest yet, and this will take care of that most of the time.

The other con, in my opinion, is that you need to have it hooked up to an outlet to be able to use it. Electricity and moisture do not get along to well and since you use it outside you will have to watch the weather.

What I mainly like is the set and forget option on a pellet smoker. Although I think you have to take that with a grain of salt in my opinion. I would not let it run for 10 hours without keeping an eye on it.

Luckily there are models now that come with blue tooth and you can even control the whole thing with your phone if you would like that. That goes too far for me. I like to stay close to my grills.

I read that some people say that the meat taste less smoked. My experience is that it taste a little less strong but still has a good smoked taste.

Now what?

After reading all the reviews my friend told me to do and seeing his in action I have decided to go for the Traeger brand. One of the reasons is that it has been around for a long time and they have many models and configurations to choose from

I will definitely go for the latest controller since they seem to perform so much better. There are, however, a few more things I have to decide on.

First I have to pick the model and size that is perfect for my family size and my way of cooking. It does not make sense to buy a larger one than I need. But also one that is too small would not make me happy.

After figuring out all these things I have to find the best place to buy one and that comes with a new set of questions that need to be answered.

I got to see if I buy it in a regular store or order one online. That means less lifting and driving back and forth. So that is probably best option since I don’t have a truck.

Will Be Continued.

I already found out that this time of the year (mid summer) is not the best time. Prices are at its highest now. I guess I will wait a few months or maybe even for the holidays to buy my new toy.

I will update my findings and tips here so I can help other people who are looking for a pellet grill.
